WHO WE ARE

We are Delaware’s First, and Wilmington’s Finest All – Girl, skater owned and operated Roller Derby League. The League was established in March 2006 by Domenica Personti (Naughty Nikki Napalm), Michelle Poore (WitchBlade), Jen Wallace (ButtaFly), and Lauren Hooks (LolliDagger), thus creating the captains of the Ruff Rollers. Since then we have built the league from the ground up. We host events, and fundraisers to earn money for practice and other necessitates.

We are fully self supporting and rely on donations, sponsorships and fundraising to survive. At times we have been known to Jello Wrestle, and Soc-Em Bopper Box, as well as host Pajama Jammy Jams, and Lingerie Shows. We play hard, and skate harder …

We consist of three teams : La Bella Mafia, The Training Wheels, and the Diamond Demolitia – our brand new ALL-STAR Travel Team, which will be traveling out of state to bout other travel teams. If you are selected and choose to join us you will be placed on our “Training Wheels” team. You will work with coaches who will teach you Roller Derby Skills. You will be expected to learn basic skating skills on your own. Not much pressure.

After 90 days you will be evaluated and we will then decide whether to place you on a team or keep you on the training wheels team until a joint decision is made for you to “graduate”. At the end of your orientation period, you will have the chance to choose your Derby Name and Number. Do you think you're ready?

WHAT DO WE DO?

Roller Derby past and present

Founded by a man named Leo Seltzer, roller derby first came to life in 1935. It is the ONLY sport, besides basketball, created by an American. Roller Derby has seen many ups and downs through out the decades...and is back in big BIG way. The sport still resembles its traditional roots, but has been updated with a rock N' roll / delinquent edge. It is a sport full of robust personality and continues to this day to be wildly entertaining. Think burlesque meets X-games!! The sport is gaining popularity rapidly, with several leagues popping up nation wide.

We are in the process of applying to become members of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. The mission of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association is to promote and foster the sport of women’s Flat Track Derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is, “by the skaters, for the skaters.” Women skaters are primary owners, managers, and operators of each member league and of the WFTDA.
